It's that time of year again...

No, not Christmas, although it's always a good time to celebrate Christ's life.

Nope--It's time for frank conversations. A forthcoming study of BYU students found that 35% of male students use pornography on a regular basis and that 9% view pornography daily. This doesn't even include occasional users.

If pornography is such a problem in an environment conducive to purity, how can you be sure that the problem hasn't affected the man (or woman) you love? By asking. Time for another PPI: a Personal Pornography Interview.

Amen. Every wife should have the courage to ask their husband if they have viewed pornography in the last week, month, year, and every husband that has viewed porn NEEDS to find the courage to admit that they have and to seek the help that they need.

WOW! I'm shocked but than again...I'm not. SAD!! Thanks for the reminder Zach...we do make it a topic of conversation around here...and often.

Oh, and I almost wonder if that number isn't HIGHER....what about those that don't admit to it???

On Priesthood Blessings

Priesthood blessings have been on my mind recently, for a number of reasons. My mother-in-law is feeling poorly and has been for at least a week. On Monday night, she requested that I give her a blessing. Since neither Alana nor I had firm plans for our Family Home Evening lesson that night, we decided to teach my two-year-old son Gabriel about priesthood blessings. He folded his arms reverently three times: once when I consecrated oil for the healing of the sick, once when Donald Gilreath (my mother-in-law's home teacher) anointed her with the oil, and once while I gave her a blessing. He listened patiently while Alana and I explained how priesthood blessings can make us feel better and help us learn what Heavenly Father wants us to do. Barack Obama and William Perry: Two Theories of Education

Before I get to my thoughts on Barack Obama's speech to school children (which you asked for ), let me briefly note that as of today I am the creator and subject of a new website designed to aid me in my quest for full time employment as a college professor.
